Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) is the emergency relief and humanitarian response program of the Presbyterian Church (USA), committed to providing immediate and long-term support to communities impacted by natural disasters and human-made crises. Through this program, our church plays a vital role in offering relief, partnering with local organizations to provide food, shelter, emotional and spiritual care, and other forms of aid to those in need. PDA’s efforts reach both domestic and global communities, helping to rebuild lives and restore hope in the face of devastating challenges.
At First Presbyterian Church, we actively support Presbyterian Disaster Assistance throughout the year, especially when disasters strike close to home. In response to events like the devastating floods in Waverly in 2021, we mobilize our congregation to give generously- both monetarily and through much-needed supplies providing much-needed aid to those affected. Through our contributions, we are living out our faith by extending compassion and assistance to those who are suffering, offering both immediate relief and long-term recovery. Our partnership with PDA allows us to be part of a larger, coordinated effort to bring hope and healing in times of crisis.
